The Butterfly House Preschool Day Care Center is a licensed preschool and day care center, located on the Seminary grounds, offering full-day and half-day programs for children between the ages of two and five. The Butterfly House is a family-like setting with a small group size that enables the teachers to really get to know each child, his/her strengths and weaknesses and his/her developmental level.

The mixed-age grouping is based on the Montessori approach and is one way that the center is like a large family. Children interact on a daily basis not only with children their own ages, but also with children older and younger than they are.

Lesson plans and curriculum are designed to engage many different learning styles. All activities are designed with a “hands-on” approach in mind. Although basic concepts such as letters & numbers are taught, it is done by exposing the child to many different types of learning activities as possible. Our greatest hope is that learning these basics is fun.

At The Butterfly House we believe that children learn best by “doing”. We encourage exploration and experimentation. Our goal for each child in his time here is that he reaches his full potential. We hope to always send our children out in to the world as kind, caring, empathetic young people who love school and are enthusiastic about life and learning. That is our hope for every child who walks through our doors.

Applicants to VTS who wish to enroll their children in the Butterfly House will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis as determined by the date on which their registration deposit is received. The number of spaces available in the Butterfly House varies from year to year; priority is always given to the children of VTS students enrolled either full-time or in a degree program, and VTS employees. Every effort is made to accommodate eligible children, especially the children of parents with full-time employment.

Hours Of Operation
The Center is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Seminary children enrolled in the center often join their parents for lunch in the refectory.
