Welcome to the Institute for Christian Formation and Leadership (ICFL). Founded in 2007, the Institute offers programs for intellectual renewal and spiritual refreshment to enrich and strengthen the ministry of clergy and lay people.

The work of the Institute takes shape through the work of two dynamic centers that have long been central to the mission of Virginia Seminary:

• The Center for the Ministry of Teaching (CMT), established in 1985, is an ecumenical resource and research center in support of Christian formation and education both locally and nationally. CLICK HERE to learn more about the CMT. 

• The Center for Lifetime Theological Education (LTE) has played a leading role in continuing education for both clergy and laypeople at Virginia Seminary since the 1960s. CLICK HERE to learn more about LTE.
