It is my practice to try and meet with all new members of staff to welcome them to the community (and if you are a new member of staff and haven't met with me, then please do contact Katherine Malloy right away).  It was fun meeting up with Michelle Gleeson; she does not simply go to St. Paul's in Old Town (where I serve as an Associate), but she has also lived for many years in London.  Most recently, she is on the cusp of finishing her Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of London, Birkbeck College.

Michelle is working with the Rev. Dr. David Gortner to work on the closing stages of the Lilly Impact Study.  This important study, funded by the Lilly Endowment, is seeking to examine and evaluate the impact of transitional training, development, and support programs on the seminary-to-ordained ministry transition.  Using a sample of 700 clergy, their task is to determine the effectiveness of the various different forms of transition into ministry.

Dr. Gortner writes of Michelle that she is 'poised to bring tremendous analytical skills and professional insights to how the clergy in this study have developed in their pastoral identity, religious ministry, and capacity to lead.'  We are delighted Michelle is with us.  Please do give her a very warm welcome.
