As the Board gathers on the campus, so the busiest week of the year starts. The day will begin with a plenary session, which is followed by the committees; Community Life, Investment, Trustees, Institutional Advancement, and Academic Affairs are all meeting during the course of the day.
There is something rather symbolic about our Board meetings coinciding with the announcement made yesterday from Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill. Our Board is in the business of governance; it is responsible for ensuring that this Seminary continues to raise up effective congregational leadership. ICOH is the embodiment of congregational life in our midst. So I am delighted to share with the community today that after an eleven month search, the congregation has called the Rev. J. Randolph Alexander, Jr. (pictured), as its tenth Rector. He will formally join the congregation on Sunday August 25, 2013.
Randy is moving from Christ Church in Pelham, NY. He is married to our alum the Rev. Patricia Alexander (VTS '01), who is serving at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac, MD. They have three children.
ICOH has been amazing. During an Interim, they exceeded their campaign goal of a million dollars (half of which was their contribution to the Chapel for the Ages Campaign); they have handled this transition with grace. We are excited about the appointment of Randy and look forward to working with him.
