During the summer, the Seminary is able to include summer help in the mix with the staff and faculty. These high school and college students are bright and willing to take on a variety of summer tasks.

The summer is a time for a lot of maintenance and grounds work. Andrew Golemon Mercer, Luke Markham, Griffin Warder, and Thomas Zdancewicz have been moving furniture from various locations to others, building desks, helping with water leaks, painting, and generally learning life skills in various maintenance areas.

Alex Holm participated in his school’s “learning experience” as a graduating senior. His time was spent working on several projects in the Dean’s office, Institutional Advancement, and the Bishop Payne Library Archives. Terence Barner had done the same learning experience here last year, enjoyed it so much, he returned this summer to be a teacher’s aide at the Butterfly House. Another T.C. Williams student, Lexi Judd, is helping the Business Office preparing for the upcoming audit.

Not a stranger to the Seminary, Margaret Messenger has picked up additional work at the reception desk while still serving as the lunch counter. Mark Pilling has also returned doing several jobs around campus, including manning the student computer lab for the DMin program.

Isabella Blanchard is a student at American University. She's been splitting her time between the Dean's office and the Center for the Ministry of Teaching by providing social media coverage and registration/info desk at the e-Formation conference. Her skills are also being put to use in developing digital content for the CMT.

It is refreshing to have all these young energetic people as a part of this community every summer. They bring their unique gifts to this place and we are blessed to have them. Take a moment to greet them and learn more about them. Some are here for just a few more days, while others will remain until the end of summer.
