According to the ATS Exit surveys, students have consistently reported that they were Satisfied or Very Satisfied with the way the education they had received at Virginia Theological Seminary has enhanced the skills necessary for their future occupations. Some of these areas included the “ability to preach well”, the “ability to use and interpret Scripture” and the “ability to think theologically”.

Doctoral Programs

Our Doctor of Ministry program carries the implicit expectation of 5 years for completion of all coursework and the doctoral project thesis. The length of term can vary, however, due to extensions that can be offered for up to 3 additional years, thus extending the range as far as 8 years.  In addition, a few students complete their requirements in as few as 4 years.

As a result, it becomes challenging to calculate a completion rate for a given class year.  We have calculated completion rates for those who began a program in the Academic Years of 2003-2004, 2004-2005, and 2005-2006.  Students beginning a Doctor of Ministry program in the years listed below have all had at least 6 years to complete the program.
