|The Evening School of Theology (EST) at Virginia Theological Seminary offers opportunities for deepening one's understanding of the Christian faith and experience. In the “traditional” program, courses are open to all who register. The “enriched” program, which offers the opportunity to enroll in a master-level course as an EST participant, requires an application (available online) to be submitted by a stated deadline.|
Three courses are being taught in Fall 2013: Theological Education Toolbox: An Intro to Theological Education; Introduction to Hebrew and Finding God in Gratitude.
Two Enriched courses are offered in Fall 2013: Fundamentalism & the Challenge for Anglicanism and Introduction to Old Testament. Each enriched course has limited enrollment with August 15 as the deadline for submitting the required application for enrollment. In addition, any student wishing to apply for the enriched program are required to take the Theological Education Toolbox course.

Students in the traditional program may take courses as auditors or may enroll for credit toward the Diploma in Theological Studies. Students in the enriched program take courses for credit even if they do not elect to work towards the Diploma.
Credits in the EST are not transferable to the Seminary or other academic institutions. Tuition is modest, thanks to a bequest from the estate of Maxine Bishop of Alexandria, who was a frequent Evening School participant.
