The Center for Anglican Communion Studies will be successful, if a recurring question is: “Where in the world is VTS?” Of course, VTS is blessed with a beautiful home campus, just across the Potomac River from Washington, DC. Those “from” VTS, however, are “all over the map,” in many lands and serving in many ways. VTS is literally everywhere, proclaiming the Gospel and living for the Kingdom that finally will be on earth as it is in heaven.
CACS will encourage and arrange faculty, student and staff exchanges. We will also host Anglican leaders and scholars for short-term residencies in Alexandria. Such “going and coming” has been part of the Seminary’s community life for a long time
Exchanges and Residencies remind us that you can study the Anglican Communion or read about it forever. To live, however, in community with friends from afar is to recognize that the Communion is not a static concept or a set of beliefs and practices. To share stories from across the Communion is to encounter the rich oneness which is ours in Jesus Christ. CACS will encourage and monitor Communion conversations on our campus and around the world.
