|All full-time students are required to have health insurance and to document their coverage at registration. The Seminary offers full-time master's-level students group health and hospitalization coverage with The Episcopal Church's Medical Trust administered through the Church Pension Group. The information below is also available on the Church Pension Group website.|
The Episcopal Church Medical Trust offers two medical plan choices:
Both plans provide Express Scripts prescription coverage, CIGNA Behavioral Health Benefits, and EyeMed Vision Care. Dental coverage is optional; there are three available plans through CIGNA at an additional monthly cost. The Open Enrollment Guide (in the downloads section at right) summarizes the two medical plans and the three optional dental plans. Network Access Instructions will help locate doctors. When looking for information under the Empire BCBS, search by using outside locations, not local (local is New England).
- Aetna HealthFund Plan
- Empire BCBS PPO 75/50 Plan
Eligible students may enroll in the plans effective August 1 or September 1, or at the time of a qualifying life event such as marriage, birth, or loss of other insurance coverage. Enrollment is through VTS. Send or Fax (703-370-6234) the Enrollment Form to the attention of the Office of Financial Aid. Students must be enrolled through VTS and will be billed by VTS in two, 6-month installments.
The 2014-15 Rates vary by the plan's benefits, age of the student, and family members to be covered.
For those students who wish to be self-insured, one option for private health insurance is to purchase an independent plan through the regional HMO, Kaiser Permanente. Students must contact Kaiser directly (1-800-KP-HELLO) and will be billed by Kaiser. Students may also search the state healthcare exchange established under the Affordable Care Act for additional options.
Contact the Seminary's Health Insurance Administrator in the Office of Financial Aid if you have questions.
