2012 Grants:
Dukathole Support a Child Project ($2,000)
This is a child nutrition project aimed at adding an additional 21 children to their feeding program. The project is located in Germiston, South Africa in a severely impoverished area. The settlement of Dukathole is in the Diocese of Highveld. The children are mostly orphans living with siblings and/or grandparents. The Support a Child Project is run by The Rev. Mother Marlene Rodda, Rector of the St. Boniface Parish. The parish works with a food company which provides cost effective nutritious food for as little as $11.88 per month for each child.
The Haiti School Nurse Project ($2,000)
The funds for this project will provide a nurse for three years for the 829 students attending La Resurrection School in Gros Morne, Haiti. Funding from the Missionary Society and other organizations will pay for the nurse’s salary, equipment for the office, and supplies and medicine for the school. The on-site nurse will bring immediate health care and health knowledge to the students. The project is the result of a partnership between the La Resurrection Parish in Gros Morne, Haiti and Middleham and St. Peter’s Parish in Lusby, Md.
St. Andrews Theological Seminary, Manila Philippines ($1,450)
St/ Andrews is the only Anglican Seminary in the Philippines. It is the center of theological education, training, and formation for those who are called to serve in the Anglican Church in the Philippines. The school currently serves 45 seminarians. The grant was awarded to help purchase classroom equipment.
