I sent letters this week to four VTS graduates who are in full-time doctoral programs indicating that they would be receiving the second half of their Bell-Woolfall Fellowships for this year, 2012-13. These fellowships are supported by an endowment that enables us to grant up to $3,000 for persons in theological studies, generally Ph.D. or TH.D programs. These fellowships may then be renewable for an additional two years.

Sending notes to our fellowship holders is always a pleasure—not that the fellowships are a fortune but because it is good to make a difference and support full-time, doctoral studies, whether study is overseas or here in the United States.

We are now inviting applications for Bell-Woolfall Fellowships for those accepted in doctoral programs for the academic year 2013-14. Besides the announcements in alumni communications, I hope readers of this commentary might let VTS graduates know that we welcome their application for one of these fellowships. The applications are available on the VTS website under the alumni banner and the sidebar “Fellowships & Grants.”
