Our student services are quite exceptional. This includes service offered from the time of initial inquires about education and formation at VTS through admission, orientation, and life while a student. (We seek to serve our alumni as well, but that is a matter of alumni relations.) These various services come through:
* the Associate Dean of Students,
* the Staff Officer and Director of Admissions,
* the Director of Ethnic and Racial Ministries,
* the Director of Financial Aid and Housing,
* the Assistant Director for Admissions and Financial Aid,
* the Registrar, the Administrative Assistant, and
* the Technical Assistant providing support for the Registrar and for those using the academic management technologies.
Titles are inadequate to express what is actually done.
Andrea Kramer, for example, as Director of Financial Aid and Housing, works with students helping them manage the intricacies of financial aid and taxes. Today at 1 p.m. and again Wednesday night at 7 p.m., she will lead a workshop in Addison 101 for all students and their spouses or partners. These workshops will include the announcement of the coming year’s tuition and fee rates, procedures for applying for and/or renewing one’s Seminary financial aid, and understanding the tax implications and opportunities of being a student.
Of course we never forget to be thankful for the many benefactors that make possible the generous and comprehensive financial aid the Seminary is able to provide. Altogether, the Seminary awards $2.5 million dollars per year in a variety of aid sources to both master’s and doctoral students. Most of the aid, though, assists full-time master’s-level students, with 80% of these students receiving financial support so that they will not incur any additional education debt from their seminary studies. Expenses increase and, thankfully, so do those who increase our ability to meet those expenses.
