News has traveled rapidly around the campus. Yes Dr. Patricia (Tricia) Lyons and Dr. Elisabeth (Lisa) Kimball were married last Monday, March 13, at 11am at Washington D.C. City Hall.

I asked Lisa to reflect on the day: “We chose to be legally married (on my deceased father's birthday) with profound gratitude for those whose hard work and courage have made it possible at all, and knowing that the love we share and the commitment we made is a gift from God. We look forward to having our marriage blessed by the Church. It was a truly glorious day - much more significant than either of us had anticipated. We went excited about the opportunity to establish our legal status. We left, learning that vows in any context - even standing underneath a wobbly trellis of artificial flowers in the heart of D.C. bureaucracy - are powerful and transformative. It's difficult to embrace the reality that two become one in a society that does not easily see you that way, and we went to join with other gay couples across the country who, like us, are becoming visible about their call to love well."

We wish Lisa and Tricia all the best as they embark on this next stage of their journey together.  We are delighted they are part of our community.
