Sometimes the person you are looking for is already on your staff. We did a national search; we had a long list of strong and good candidates that were considered. There were five finalists. But at the end of the process, the Search Committee appointed our own Mr. Curtis Prather.
Curtis has been with us since 2005. He had worked at the Smithsonian Institution, St. John's Episcopal Church in McLean, and the American Film Institute at the Kennedy Center. When our former Director of Communications, Susan Shillinglaw, left to pursue a new opportunity at National Geographic, Curtis stepped in and became our Interim Director of Communications.
It was during this interim that he worked on the February and June issues of News from the Hill, the Christian Rock Concert, the Annual Fund video, various brochures, and countless press releases. He demonstrated a capacity to cope with the demands of the position; and he had some interesting ideas. I am delighted that he has accepted this position. Please do call Curtis or drop him an email and congratulate him on this promotion.
As a Seminary we strive to invest in our staff. We celebrate with them as they move on to greater things and we also celebrate with them when we are able to promote them to a more senior position in the Seminary. In both cases, we are proud that men and women are gaining skills and experience that stand them in good stead going forward.
