From Ashes to Action: A Chapel Burns and A Seminary Rebuilds is now available. This new, 150-page publication from VTS, tells the story of the last three years with pictures and text that capture the complexity, drama, sadness, and joy of our shared journey. Losing a chapel is very difficult - for so many it was a place full of memories. Finding a new home for worship is difficult. Starting a capital campaign, in an institution where the culture of fundraising is limited and in the middle of the deepest recession for a hundred years, was a massive challenge. It is important that we tell the story.
As you turn the pages of this riveting narrative, a story of grace unfolds. God was in the pain; God was in the emerging designs; God was in the process that led to a highly successful capital campaign. And as this book appears, the walls of the new chapel can be clearly seen. An exciting future looms for the Seminary.
It was hard work producing this volume. So I am grateful to my fellow editors - the Rev. Barney Hawkins, Ph.D., vice president for Institutional Advancement, and Mr. Curtis Prather, director of Communications. However, the primary purpose of this book is to express our gratitude to all those involved in this moment. Primarily we want to thank our supporters for the remarkable support of the Chapel for the Ages Capital Campaign. This narrative is their narrative. We give thanks to God for our remarkable staff, students, faculty, alums, friends, congregations and dioceses who stepped forward to make our future hopeful and grace filled. Thank you.
Copies of From Ashes to Action will be available for sale in the Welcome Center.
