The journey of a ministry well done is worth celebrating. Today at the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes (CEEP), we will honor just such a ministry. It is a journey of a couple. Tay Cooper received the Dean's Cross for Servant Leadership in 2009; her husband, the Rev. Dr. James Cooper is retiring as the rector of the strongest parish in the Episcopal Church - Trinity Wall Street.

Jim (twice an alum of VTS), and his wife Tay have had the challenge of running a complex parish and large organization. Every decision gets considerable attention: plenty of people critique the decisions of the rector of Trinity Wall Street. Where the rest of us are not spotted, the spotlight is found on Jim and Tay.

So today I am proud to celebrate the ministry of Jim and Tay. With gratitude we acknowledge their hard work and dedication. Tonight at the CEEP conference, we will recognize their ministry. And we will express our gratitude.

The Very Rev Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
