It was Ragan Sutterfield who started the conversation.  Would it be possible for the Seminary to invest in either a standing desk or a treadmill desk?  After a meeting with the Director of the Library, Dr. Mitzi Budde, and the Vice President for Administration and Finance, Ms. Heather Zdancewicz, it was determined that we should step out (pun intended) and purchase a treadmill desk for the library.  You can find it the library lower level.

Now standing desks have a long and distinguished history.  Benjamin Franklin was apparently a user.  The treadmill desk is a more recent innovation.  But the idea is simple: for some people, reading, emailing, and walking can go together very nicely.  And in an age, when countless people just sit at a desk for hours on end creating an alterative is good and healthy.

I noticed a lively Facebook conversation started up.  So let me stress, this is strictly voluntary.  We only have one in the entire Seminary.  So for those who still prefer to read in a seated manner, there are ample opportunities to do so.
