It is always an honor to hear good things about what members of the VTS community are doing. I never cease to be impressed by the way they generously give of their time and talents. They give not only to the immediate VTS community, but to the field of theological education, to their local communities and churches, to their fellow human beings.
Over the summer I received a letter of commendation from Dr. Daniel O. Aleshire, Executive Director of the Association of Theological Schools. In the letter Dr. Aleshire lauds a VTS faculty member who has served on the Editorial Board of Theological Education for the past six years. Dr. Aleshire noted that this faculty member, "Has brought wisdom, dedication, and creative thought" to her work with the Editorial Board. We and the ATS are delighted that Reverend Joyce A. Mercer, Ph.D. will continue to share her gifts with the ATS in the future as well.
Did I mention that Theological Education is distributed to faculty members at more than 260 member schools of the ATS? This work is significant. It serves as a great reminder that we have only brief glimpses of what our colleagues do on a day-to-day basis.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
