One delight and privilege of serving as the Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary is the opportunity to entertain. The Refectory, Scott Lounge and the Deanery have all been venues for major dinners where distinguished guests, alums and donors have gathered to eat, drink and share fellowship. From peers of the realm from the United Kingdom to distinguished bishops, such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, all have been received, recognized and shared a meal. Meals have been an important part of the capital campaign.
So today I wish to recognize the gift and service of Ms. Wendy Soto. Wendy has been working for Meriwether Godsey since 1997 as a Catering Supervisor. She will be finishing this Friday and is moving to the National Presbyterian School to supervise the lunch program for Meriwether Godsey. We are going to miss Wendy. She has moved tables; she has served meals; she has coordinated complex and difficult events with many staff. She is a complete delight: she always has a smile on her face and clearly enjoys her work. She deserves some of the credit for the remarkable capital campaign success.
So thank you Wendy. Mr. Benjamin Judd has told me how much he will miss your exceptional skills and dedication. The whole Seminary is going to miss your exceptional service that you have given this place. May God bless you going forward, and do please stay in touch.
The Very Rev. Ian Markham, Ph.D.
