1/7/2014

One of the most important, yet least recognized, tasks in the Seminary is keeping the records of those who have died. We do this as an act of holy celebration of the past. The present is always a gift from the past; we flourish because of those who have gone before us. Today I wish to recognize the important work of Monina Pangan. She is the person who receives the news of those alums who have died and shares the news with those responsible for tracking such important data. She does this work well and effectively; thank you Monina.

Yesterday, she sent a death notice for a lovely, gentle, and kind alumnus - Thomas Morgan Moore. Born in 1936, he died on January 1, 2014. Tom Moore was both a good personal friend as well as a generous friend of the Seminary. He had a gentle and gracious manner; he was thoughtful with a quiet sense of humor; and he was kind with a deep commitment to family. He graduated from the Seminary in 1971; and along with Marie Moore served on the task force for the new Immanuel Chapel. One of my favorite memories of Tom was the time that Marie and Tom spent in New York at RAMSA architects at a design meeting for the new chapel.

Rest in peace my friend.
