For many of us, we have had a much needed three day weekend. After the exhausting events around convocation, the break was much appreciated. However, for some on the campus, Columbus Day was an important work day. We were honored to have our consultants for the emerging Center for Liturgy and Music on the campus. Mrs. Ellen Johnston, a distinguished musician, has teamed up with our own Rev. Dr. Bill Roberts to realize a vision. They want Virginia Theological Seminary to provide a national service that support congregations in providing an outstanding liturgical and musical experience. The idea is inspired. The Board agreed to include the idea in the Strategic Plan 2010. This year we are in the process of consultation and design. In the summer of 2014 the Center will be launched.

We are very grateful to those who have come to the campus to help design the Center and its work. These include Bishop Neil Alexander, Bishop Wayne Smith, Bishop Ted Gulick, Bishop Mariann Budde, Bishop Shannon Johnston, the Rev. Elise Johnstone, the Rev. Mary Thorpe, the Rev. David Umphlett, Mr. Jose, Reyes, Ms. Marilyn Haskel, Mr. Kyle Ritter, Ms. Marti Rideout, Mr. Josh Edwards, Dr. Carl Maultsby, the Rev. Shawn Strout and Mr. Andrew Sheranian. This is an impressive set of consultants. They have given up their holiday weekend to be with us. Thank you.

Do pray for this ministry as we conceive it. Our task is to get this work right.
