VTS Welcomes Visiting Professor, the Rt. Rev. Marc Andrus (VTS '87)

4/16/2013

Virginia Theological Seminary is determined that we stay connected with congregational and diocesan leadership.  This is, after all, our niche.  We are the Seminary that believes in feeding the gathered people of God; we believe it is important to raise up leadership in our congregations and dioceses.  This is what we have been doing since our founding in 1823.

From time to time, we are blessed with a Visiting Professor who lives this vocation and has done it well.  We are delighted that the Rt. Rev. Marc Andrus, the eighth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of California, is with us.  With a Bachelors of Science in Plant Science and a Masters in the Social Sciences, he is extremely competent in a variety of fields.  He talks a variety of different languages and is deeply interested in the connections across disciplines.  We are delighted he was able to accept our invitation to be part of our community for this quarter.

He is an alum (MDiv 1987); he was the Chaplain at Episcopal High School for a time; and he is passionate about justice issues.  He is on the campus with his wife Dr. Sheila Andrus.  Please do search them out: you are in the presence of a remarkable and gifted couple.
