Illuminated Lives - Quiet Retreat
2/20/2016
Led by the Rev. Dawna Wall, D.Min

Register now

Medieval illuminated manuscripts have layers of meaning; each page and illustration can be read from different angles adding new insight and understanding as they are explored. Our illuminated lives are equally complex, and the day’s focus will invite us to look at the wit and wisdom of our own letters.

Options of different skill levels for creating illuminated artwork will accompany the prayers, readings and songs as we share the day in quietness.

Does the Bible really say violence, slavery, and homophobia are okay? Contemporary atheist authors and hate groups say it does, but could God really support those sorts of things?

In this Friday morning session, Prof. Stephen Cook will lead attendees through a closer look at the Bible and its "hard sayings," arguing that the answer is "Certainly not!" The atheists and hate groups are fundamentally mistaken about Scripture's meaning. Come learn something about reading the Bible theologically and hermeneutically!
