Transition and transformation seem to be the themes for Christian Formation & Discipleship in this season. Esteemed colleague, Dorothy Linthicum, retired in December. Recent VTS graduate, Sarah Bentley Allred, has joined the Building Faith team headed up by Charlotte Hand Greeson and Keith Anderson. Keith is currently working on his La Convivencia Sabbatical project. Student employee, Sarah Watts, has taken over the important work of facilitating Godly Play with The Butterfly House, the childcare center on campus.
This summer we will focus on strategic, long-term planning. In the process we’ll evaluate our work in recent years and discern next steps. Ideas include new webinars, reevaluating how our annual Vacation Bible School Reviews can be most impactful, holding online conferences or discussions on critical issues in formation ministries, and more. In January we published the last print edition of Episcopal Teacher. The articles from that issue and highlights from the past can be found on the Episcopal Teacher website. We are planning an official (re)launch of this site in the fall under a new name. Watch this space!
We are also looking at new ways to track our consultations that will help us collect and disseminate the richness of those conversations. Already this month we have consulted on everything from Children’s Bibles to podcasts for Christian Formation, welcoming children with learning differences, and hiring policies. Your ministry is our inspiration! We look forward to hearing from you soon.
