Today is a special day as we celebrate Dean Markham’s birthday. When you see him for morning prayer, lunch, or meetings, take a moment to wish him a Happy Birthday.
I have been working for the dean for nearly six months and have learned so much about him. Accepting the role of his Executive Assistant is one of the best decisions I have ever made, as he serves as an important mentor in my career.
There are three things that come to mind when I think of Dean Markham: he is a strong and supportive leader, he is a kind-hearted human being, and he has a very witty sense of humor.
Dean Markham empowers the VTS community. This is what makes him a strong and supportive leader. This characteristic is shown in the recently announced project he led to create an endowment fund for reparations. He is also kind-hearted. The dean takes time to listen to the staff, faculty, and students and truly care for them pastorally. Moreover, the dean also has a surprising sense of humor. This is what I enjoy most about him. In spite of his busy schedule, he makes work and our office fun!
Happy birthday, Dean Markham. Thank you for everything you do and the support you give our community.
