God is love. God’s mission, overflowing in and from divine love, comes to us in creation and re-creation, in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. As followers of Jesus Christ, to participate in mission is to participate in the movement of God’s love toward all creation. With this as our guiding principle, the Virginia Theological Seminary Mission Society, founded in 1824, exists to partner with leaders—both on campus and in places around the world—to discern and witness to God working in our various contexts. The Mission Society seeks to do this in two ways. First, we seek to foster conversations and relationships focused on God’s mission and our witness to it with students, faculty, alumni, and mission and ministry partners around the globe. Second, we raise funds and provide grants to communities in support of the work they do to reveal God’s kingdom in our midst.
