The Master in Divinity (M.Div Program)

The Master in Divinity program is a three-year residential program designed to meet the educational and formational needs of those in the ordination process in the Episcopal Church or in an equivalent process in another denomination.  The program provides a foundation in all theological areas: Biblical Studies, Historical Studies, Ministerial Studies, Studies in Christian Worship, Studies in Faith and Society, and Theological Studies.  While the curriculum is designed particularly to meet the needs of those who are seeking ordination, those who desire to earn the M.Div. for other vocational/professional goals are invited to apply to the program, as well.  Applicants who are not in the ordination process in the Episcopal Church should be able to provide information about the professional preparation that is required for their chosen vocation or profession and be able to articulate why they believe the M.Div. curriculum at VTS will prepare them for their chosen vocation or profession.

The Master of Arts (M.A. Program)

The Master of Arts program is an academic Master’s degree accredited by the Association of Theological Schools.  It is intended to prepare students for competent Christian theological engagement and leadership in a variety of settings.  The 48-credit degree allows students to design personalized plans of study to match their academic backgrounds, the needs/expectations of the Church, and their vocational/professional goals.
