The Reverend Peter K. Ackerman grew up in Southern California as the son of a television actress mother, and Executive Producer as his father. A life long Episcopalian Peter did the first thing church going people do when they can finally drive, he went and remained as far as he could from a church building, but his marriage to Marie 29 years ago, and the subsequent birth to their two, now adult, children, Harry and Amy brought him back. During that time, after working in T.V. Commercial, Music Video and Television Production, Peter felt God's call to the ordained priesthood. This led him to become a member of the Virginia Seminary Class of 2007 and remain in Northern Virginia which he and his family love. After serving as the Associate Rector at Immanuel on the Hill, Peter accepted the call in 2011 to become the rector of St. Christopher's, Springfield. He and his family still live about a half a mile away from the seminary. Peter enjoys his ongoing connection to the seminary community as an adjunct instructor for LTG 401, and his occasional service as a Colloquy Mentor.
