What do I wear?
Your apparel depends on the degree you are receiving.
- DMin graduates wear gowns. Graduates have the option to rent a gown or wear one of their own. DMin graduates have the option to purchase or rent a hood. The hood will be presented to you as part of the ceremony.
- Anglican Studies Graduates wear a cassock and surplice. Hoods are optional. If Anglican Studies graduates choose to wear a hood it can be from their previous alma mater or one can be rented that represents their previous alma mater or highest degree earned.
- MDiv graduates wear cassocks and surplices. Hoods are optional and may be rented or purchased.
- MA graduates wear gowns which may be rented through VTS. Hoods are optional, and can be rented.
How do I rent a hood?
You respond to a survey about hood/gown rental that was sent to you by email. Based on your answers to that survey, hoods are rented for you and then distributed on the day of Commencement.
Is there a rehearsal for Commencement?
Yes, there will be a rehearsal for Commencement on Monday May 14th at 4:00 p.m. at Immanuel Chapel.
Who attends the rehearsal?
All graduating master’s level students are required to attend. Please contact Taylor Mather if you have questions about this requirement. Doctoral students who live locally are strongly encouraged to attend.
Is there a rehearsal for the Services of the Mission of the Church?
Yes, but ONLY for those participating in the service. It will be held in Immanuel Chapel, on Monday, May 14th at 3:00 p.m.
