Virginia Theological Seminary encourages scholarly and spiritual development of the Seminary faculty, as well as educating and challenging future generations of students and theologians.
The collections of Bishop Payne Library contain over 200,000 items, including many rare, one-of-a-kind manuscripts. The Archives serves as the official repository for the records of both the Virginia Theological Seminary and the former Bishop Payne Divinity School. Since 2003, the Archives has been the home of the African American Episcopal Historical Collection, a joint project with the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church to document the experience of African Americans in the life and ministry of the Episcopal Church.
VTS publishes several award winning publications, including the Seminary Journal, Episcopal Teacher, News on the Hill, and since 2008, Bible Briefs.
Additions to the section will include more writings from the faculty, as well as sermons.
